Our Story

In January 2009, I started another semester at Brigham Young University – Idaho. I was getting ready to start filling out my papers to serve a mission and had zero interest in dating any boys, not that I had dated a whole lot up to that point. That semester I was taking a writing class. As part of the class we were required to do several group projects. As luck would have it, we got to choose our own groups. Since I didn’t know anyone in the class, I signed up for a group that sounded interesting. Stephen also signed up for the same group. During the course of the semester we spent lots of hours together as a group working on our project and got to know each other better. I had never had so much fun working on a group project!

In March I celebrated my 21st birthday. Stephen got me the Madagascar movies and somehow made watching the movies together into our first date. Over the month, we went on lots of dates and by the middle of April I was headed back home to work on the farm for the summer.

That summer, Stephen drove from Rexburg, Idaho to Utah almost every weekend to see me. In May, I went to Rexburg to attend an old roommates wedding reception. During that weekend, Stephen proposed to me on the St. Anthony sand dunes….and of course I said ‘Yes!’

Even though I didn’t go on a mission, Stephen promised me that we would serve a mission together one day. On August 1, 2009 we were sealed for eternity in the Salt Lake City Temple.

Over the next few years, we worked hard and finally finished school! I graduated from BYU-Idaho in April 2012 with a degree in Horticulture.

Stephen graduated in December 2012 with a degree in Art with an emphasis in Illustration.

After graduating, we moved to Texas where Stephen is working for a commercial illustration company. In January 2013, we were surprised to find out we were going to have a little girl.

Our sweet baby girl arrived on Sunday, June 2, 2013 at 2:57. We named her Piper Marie Sitton. She weighted 8 pounds 1.6 ounces and was 20 inches long.

Little Piper makes our lives complete! I couldn’t imagine my life without her and Stephen. I feel so blessed to have them both in my life.
